How can we simulate Hydrotreater in Hysys? Do we have to add reaction for Hydrotreater to simulate? If yes, what are the kinetics of the reaction or where can I find such information?

Yes you can. If you have the Petroleum Refining Module (formerly known as Refsys), you can use the built-in Hydrocracker unit to simulate gasoil hydrotreating and hydrocracking. In this case you to tune all the rate parameters until the model reproduces typical plant data. If you do not have that module, you must develop reaction kinetics from your own lab data or use some kinetic model published in the literature. You can find many kinetic models published in scientific journals such Applied Catalysis, Catalysis Today, Energy and Fuels, Industrial Engineering Chemistry and Research. Special care must be taken when selecting a kinetic model because all them are very specific, that means that they will work only for one type of feedstock and catalyst and are valid only for a limited set of operating conditions.
