AspenTech's tool for pinch technology is called HX-NET, which has automatic data transfer from HYSYS. We offer both training in the software, and technology transfer packages for applying this technology to crude preheat train design. The pinch point of the preheat train will vary depending on crude type, product mix, transfer temperatures to downstream process units, number of light end column reboilers within the unit, and pumparound configuration. These factors can make benchmarking on the basis of furnace inlet temperature and specific energy consumption too simplistic and misleading. The best revamp designs can be achieved through a combination of applied pinch technology and good process engineering.
