We are looking for a new method and equipment for steam reformer heater catalyst loading, along the lines of Spiraload. Can anybody help us?

We are currently developing a smooth “lift and place” method to lower new catalyst into tubular reactors to encourage close packing and optimise flow pressure.
Old catalyst in the form of severe blockages or scale which would otherwise be a poison to the new product would be dry drilled and polished in seconds (not with sand or shot as it’s a pretty ineffective exercise!)

Sock loading is the only practical method that I think will work. Steam reformer tubes are usually too small in ID to try and orient catalyst pellets. You should contact the catalyst manufacturer for their suggestions. Your objectives are? Please remember that balanced pressure drop is critical to achieving maximum conversion efficiency, catalyst life, and tube life. Measuring the pressure drop of each tube (with air) as it is loaded is essential.
