On every "hydrogen generation unit" start up, the Pre-reformer reactor differential pressure increases by 0.1-0.2 kg/cm2. Before Reformer feed cut, the reactor catalyst temperature is maintained 470 - 490 deg C
Before feed cut, naptha warm-up line lined up. What is the reason for Pre-reformer del P increase?

1. Increase in diff. pressure during start-up are mainly because of the fine rust/debris that comes along with the naphtha feed predominantly from storage. Also water in the naphtha feed from storage may also cause the problem.
2. 2nd major problem of Diff. Pressure increase during start -up is the oxygenates ingress . Pl. check whether the naphtha tank is nitrogen blanketed or nor. If yes, then is its PCV working well?

When you say startup do you mean after a catalyst change out?.. If so it is probably caused by how the inert supporting balls are distributed. Also over time some channelling of the beds will occur...reducing delte P. Also fresh catalyst has a greater surface area which will increase friction losses.
