“Trim” is the size of the insert that limits the flow to a specific value. For example, If I have a 1 inch control valve body with a ½ inch trim, it will provide a specific pressure drop at a specific flow rate. If I replace the trim with a ¾ inch trim, the pressure drop will be lower at the same flow rate.
