Q & A > Question Details
What is the range of UOP R134 catalyst density? Is it ok to assume that the density of Fresh catalyst (R134) is the same with the Spent Catalyst when calculating the weight of the catalyst? Is it possible to overload reactors (3) in a (vertical) stack with catalyst in CRU?

The Spent catalyst is expected to be more dense.
In UOP stacked design, there is no control on the amount of loading in the catalyst in CCR units. The unit will accept the amount of catalyst it is designed for. There is no option of overloading or under loading the reactors in CCR units.

Fresh catalyst density will not be the same as spent catalyst. Use the vendor’s figure. Fill to the specified height.
