Whatever type of crude blend is processed in a refinery , feedstock to FCC should be hydrotreated to get maximum yield of lighters like LPG and Gasoline. If we are processing crude oil with high density , then the VGO needs to be hydrotreated . Low density crude oil is processed, hydrotreating may not be required for VGO to facilitate as feedstock for FCC unit .

Assuming both feed streams are from the same crude: The unhydrotreated portion will yield less LPG and naphtha and more LCO and decant oil.
