DIPA can certainly be used for TGTU applications. Historically it was the original solvent which was used by Shell in the SCOT units, back in 1973. DIPA may not be as selective as MDEA but it is certainly selective enough for TGTU applications. MDEA and formulated solvents were only used some 15 years later. Although the know-how about DIPA is certainly not as widely spread as MDEA, the larger engineering companies normally should be able to design a unit for this purpose. If you have any problems in this regard, we (Sulphur/Amine Experts) can also provide a basic design.
