In the CO2 recovery section of Ammonia plants, using MDEA, are there any advantages to keeping the exchangers using cooling water on the tube side (e.g.Lean solution cooler, LP flash gas cooler) vertical, instead of horizontal?

Somewhat of a strange question, which is possibly related to a strange design.
By first principles, the most corrosive fluid (MDEA with CO2) should be on the tube side. Cooling water should be on the shell side. These exchangers are liquid/liquid, so horizontal or vertical makes no difference.
