What are the probable causes of Aviation turbine Fuels failing in Jet Fuel Thermal Oxidation Test? Is there any specific content in jet fuel feed like contaminants/residue/emulsion/caustic or hydrocarbon species which leads to JFTOT failure?

Probable causes of ATF failures in JFTOT are presence of corrosive sulphur species , cracked hydrocarbons and metals , also some surfactants can also interfere in the failures.

Presence of free sulfur or hydrogen sulfide (even at 0.5 ppm) can fail JFTOT.
