We are operating our DCU with COT at 501 Deg C. The feed quality is also more or less constant. For the last month and a half months we have seen increased sulphur in our coke in excess of 9 wt %. Can anyone suggest the probable reasons?

you have stated that the feed quality is more or less constant. It is likely that the overall crude blend sulphur is still same yet one sees rise in Petcoke sulphur. Check for sulphur content of Coker feed for any change. Further, most sulphur in thiophene form will end of in coke. Hence, one way to confirm is to carry out CCR of Coker feed and then test for sulphur on the residue made during CCR test. There is likely correlation then with Petcoke sulphur and feed mix quality.

Consider changing the crude oil blend i.e., blended crude oil total sulphur directly helps in reducing the downstream product sulphur content.
